Grounds of hope

Its been a while since we lasted updated the blogosphere on GoH…so here you go.

GoH continues push itself into most conversations up here at FBC, but the process and timing of it all is still being worked through. In the end, we are all still convinced that a proximity, justice mission to our surrounding city is a major part of FBC’s future.

Continue to pray with us as we look to bring the GoH dreams into a tangible reality.  If you haven’t already, make sure you pick up a TWO42 magazine from FBC for a special GoH missional life Christmas catalog.

Its been a while and we thought it was that time again for a  quick GoH Update

• BUILDING : All inspections on buildings are presently taking place. Building Code/Fire Marshal/Electrical/Historic/HVAC/Asbestos. Some with really pleasing results. Others we await. These will obviously determine refit/refurbishment costs. We are ecstatic to say we have received numerous offers of free labor and equipment from many of you!

• VISION :  We are finalizing menu concepts, design and imaging ideas. Very exciting. Some amazing Revenue Stream ideas unfolding. eCommerce re-designing and web architects are crafting www.groundsofhope.com – it will be amazing.
  

• LEASING :  We are beginning to negotiate the commercial lease for the property at 101 w Louisiana. Hopefully allowing us the option to potentially purchase the property at some point. We continue to gain inquiry from potential sub leasers for office space upstairs. All encouraging.
  

• COLLABORATION : Partnership discussions with World Vision, 3e McKinney, Samaritan Inn and Missional Church Center are all underway. These relationships bring wonderful credibility to Grounds of Hope, globally and locally.
  

• BUSINESS : We are presently investigating other faith based “off campus” business projects, gleaning from them, walking their journey.
  

• FUNDING : We have just 33 days!!! to see if we can reach our goal of $75,000 (by September 1). Cash in hand is only around $20,000 but we have around $25,000 in outstanding verbal pledges. Others continue to pray through their contribution. We need help in helping us reach our goals. Could you be one of a thousand to give $100 – one of a hundred to give a $1000 or somewhere between? Now is the time realize the goals set before us, and we need all of you!

After Sunday we are up to $30,200!!! in our goal of raising $100,000 by January 1.

Check out the new sidebar widget on the right for up to date giving amounts.

You guys are awesome and we are blown away to see the funds coming in so quickly.

Remember for the time being all checks made out to GOH need to be made out to FBC/Grounds of Hope.

We’ve got teams working around the clock to get online giving up and functional, but until then bear with us on the check writing.

Also note-  we are changing our recap meeting from Sunday the 21st to Sunday the 28th  11:15 and 12:30 in the Mini theater.

Hey Guys,

Want to give you guys updates on how close we are to achieving our $100K goal.

We  need $75K by sept 1 and as of today at noon we are at $28,600.

A huge thanks to everyone who is making the GoH dream a reality!

Yesterday – To much excitement and huge applause the Grounds of Hope Team communicated that an extraordinary 10,000 sq ft. venue situated “on the square” in downtown McKinney is being negotiated – with a aggressive potential opening pre Christmas THIS year!

The partnership target of raising $75,000 before September 1st 2009 stands at $26,620 at 12.00 p.m. on Monday JUNE 1st 2009.

If you missed yesterday’s meeting OR you need to hear it again (or bring someone along) OR you you are looking to dive in with involvement in the project.

Hey Guys,

Wanted to let you guys know about our next meeting: Sunday May 31st,   2:30-4 in the rock.

We will be discussing some developments the board has been chasing down, as well as assigning board members to the different sub committees as point men and women.

We also want to welcome Carla Ewert & Brian Tyson to the board of trustees! Brian will bring some great insight into our legal process and is just an all around bright, servant, family guy with a love for our project and church!  Carla, who in one of our previous GoH meetings communicated some remarkable insight in the cultural engagement aspect of our project-shes passionate about justice and the disenfranchised. Welcome Aboard guys!
